It’s long been known that women are underrepresented in IT jobs, including those in the federal sector. And many IT professionals agree that there are too few women employed in the industry, according to a new survey.
The survey of 336 IT workers by CWJobs.co.uk found that 77% of IT professionals believe there should be more women employed in IT jobs, TechRepublic reports. The fields where women are least represented are engineering and security, respondents noted.
Most women choose not to pursue a career in IT because of the perception that it is a male-dominated job and because of its “geeky” image, the majority of respondents noted.
