Tim Cook: Apple Has Purchased 9 Companies Since October

Yahoo isn't the only company ramping up acquisitions in recent monthsApple is speeding up its rate of buying companies, too.

During the D: All Things Digital conference Tuesday night, Apple CEO Tim Cook responded to a question asking why Apple doesn't use its massive cash pile to buy more companies: He noted that it has actually acquired nine companies since the fiscal year began in October.

"Pre this year, we were probably on a pace of acquiring maybe a company every 60 to 75 days or so, so we might get to six in a year," Cook said. "This fiscal year, again starting in October, we've acquired already nine companies." Read more...
