Gen. David Petraeus resigned from his position as director of the CIA Friday, citing an extramarital affair. As soon as the news broke, Twitter was immediately filled with discussions including links to the news and reactions.
NBC News' Andrea Mitchell was the first to break the story, reporting rumors on Twitter before going on air to confirm his resignation. This is interesting, if only because this is the first political scandal in quite some time not to break online before it reached broadcast news.
