AUSTIN — Today marks the beginning of South by Southwest, the annual conference for music, film and interactive that's known for being the birthing ground for cool new apps as well as the place you're likely to meet fellow technologists or business partners you'd only interacted with online.
This year, Mashable brought along one such Internet "friend" with Grumpy Cat, who visited with fans in the Mashable tent (along with other favorites Scumbag Steve and the Nyan cat creator). Sure enough, #GrumpyCat was trending in the afternoon as SXSW-goers waited in line to get photos and Vines with a catnapping Grumpy Cat.
